UCPA stands for "Union Nationale des Centres Sportifs de Plein Air", which roughly translates as the National Union of Sports and Outdoor Recreation Centers. In short, it is a French non-profit organization that has existed for a long time and should give people the opportunity to learn and develop in various sports in pleasant and unpretentious forms. The Swedish UCPA started in 1984 and since then well over 100,000 people have traveled with us. Most of them come back often because they like UCPA and can't find anything like it anywhere else - it doesn't exist!
Everything is included
You heard right! This is no ordinary trip. When you travel with UCPA, accommodation, meals, lift passes, equipment & instructor skiing are always included. No fiddly extras, no fine print surprises. This makes us stand out from the crowd, as with others you usually get more than the ad attracted.
Unusual organization
The French UCPA is a non-profit organization, which means that they are not for profit. Everything that is left over goes to the renovation of centers, equipment and salaries for more and better trained instructors.
Unusual hotels
Our centers are not, do not function and do not look like ordinary hotels. You are responsible for room service, bed-making and cleaning. In the restaurant, you help set the table and collect the food yourself. Nothing difficult, nothing strange and it strengthens the community. We have to live with the lack of sauna and massage at the center. Here we put skiing in focus!
Unusually easy to make friends
A UCPA trip is all about sports and socializing. You travel mainly with Swedish travelers, but once there, you meet French people and people from other countries. It's hard not to make new friends when you socialize on the slopes, at the dinner table and in the evenings. If you are traveling alone, you should know that with us it is no problem to make new friends.
Good French food
All meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, are included on our trips! Meals are served buffet style and you can choose from a variety of typical French meat, fish and vegetarian options.
Activities
Combine a relaxing vacation with exciting activities, everyone can join in! Whether you are a beginner or more experienced, you can count on an unforgettable experience.
Make new friends
The centers have programs with various joint activities, such as karaoke, music quiz & movies. Everything to have fun together even in the evenings.
Everything else
Accommodation, community, skiing with instructor and all technical equipment is on site & included. It is the price on the website that applies, nothing else.
With UCPA, you'll get the most out of your ski week, to the limit of your ability. Already skilled skiers get help to hone their technique and find the best skiing both on and off piste.
Skiing with instructor included
The "Ecole de Ski UCPA" is included in the price of the trip and is an essential part of the experience. It is not compulsory, and if you are not interested in this, you are of course welcome to travel with us anyway. But please think twice about giving the instructor a chance.
Groups for all levels
If we are to have fun together and develop our riding, which is the purpose of UCPA's activities, the group should consist of approximately equally skilled riders, regardless of the level. Therefore, we ride in groups divided by riding ability.
Instructor or mountain guide?
UCPA's instructors and mountain guides have several years of advanced training in skiing and mountain knowledge. The difference between a certified instructor and a mountain guide is that both can ski off-piste, but only the mountain guide can ski off-piste on a glacier.
Bad weather professionals
They say the Alps were made for skiing, but the sun doesn't shine on command. On bad weather days, the instructors are invaluable, as long as the lifts are open, you're off. Guaranteed! Their attitude has saved many ski days for our guests.
UCPA - Freely translated to English as "National Federation for Sports and Outdoor Centers" - has a history of over 50 years. It is, in short, a non-profit, all-French organization supported by, among others, the French state. The purpose is to give ordinary people the opportunity to learn and develop in one or more sports together, in pleasant and unpretentious forms. The organization has about 80 centers in France and the West Indies, 28 of them are located at well-known winter sports resorts in the French Alps.
